It was built by Jíra of Roztoky, one of the prominent courtiers of King Wenceslas IV. The article mainly deals with the earlier developmental stage of the castle discovered during the excavations in 2015 and 2017. The surprising findings in the courtyard uncovered fragments of cellars from an earlier residence (castle or manor) which was completely razed for construction of the new structure by Jíra of Roztoky.
