The local cult of this saint was developed first by the Jihlava community of the Society of Jesus and later by the Telč chapter. The presumed accent of this saint appears to be related to the specific function of the Telč house for the 'tertianship' or 'third probation', i.e. the final formal period of formation in the Society of Jesus. Telč used Knínice as a farmhouse with a residence and a pilgrimage site with the local chapel. Such a pilgrimage site focusing on this cult was rather unique in the Czech lands. The religious, cultural, and historical phenomenon of pilgrimage was reflected in the architectural and decoration style of the structure as well as in its furnishings.
