They are found in the north and south of the Plzen Region and the city of Plzen as well as in the Rokycany, Klatovy, and Domazlice regions. They are made of carefully hewed beams and logs, left without plaster or chinked with clay. Many of them are very old, mostly from the second half of the 18th and first half of the 19th century. Some are of exceptional historical quality, many times being the last representatives of common farming buildings in the past. In addition to doors, style windows attract one's attention; they are single or double and sometimes equipped with original fittings. There are relatively few documented style joinery elements in the vernacular environment of the Plzen Region; the overwhelming majority of them vanish without being discovered and studied, in detail or briefly. The authors of this study seek to date the joinery elements also with the help of dendrochronology. ER
