No later than the end of the 14th century up to the mid-18th century, the funeral chapel of the prominent Schwamberg family of nobles was situated at the choir. The chapel's appearance and furnishings can be reconstructed to some extent according to written sources and historical vedute. A belfry with a guardhouse built at the end of the first third of the 16th century is a remarkable part of the structure and the only one to have remained since the Middle Ages. The tall tower near the parish church expresses the growing confidence of the municipality and the visual counterbalance to the defence tower of the adjacent castle. Throughout five centuries, it had several roof types and especially the latest renovation from 1990-1992 gives food for thought about the approach of contemporary heritage care to the reconstruction of cultural monuments.
